Sophie Nguyen
Speaker Coordination
Sophie Nguyen is a senior at Granite Bay High School in Placer County, California, and she serves on the NNEA Speaker Coordination Sub-Committee. Her interest in neurodiversity advocacy and research sparked when she witnessed the unjust and inaccessible experiences a friend’s sibling received as a neurodivergent individual. This firsthand account motivated her to take action: as an advocate, she is committed toward reporting on underrepresented neurodivergent communities and is dedicated toward media accessibility for all individuals on the spectrum, and as a researcher, she is interested in studying neurodiversity sociology and law. Sophie is also the Co-Founder and Researcher of HobbyHive, an organization seeking to empower neurodivergent individuals through a neurodiversity-friendly startup accelerator mentorship program and a digital directory featuring personalized event and activity suggestions based on specific areas of interest. Outside of her neurodiversity research and advocacy, Sophie likes to swim and spend time with friends.
